Terms of Service
Last updated August 26, 2026
1. What CourtDateCoverage Is
CourtDateCoverage ("the Platform," "we," "us") is a technology, verification, and matching service that connects requesting attorneys and firms with coverage attorneys for court appearances and limited-scope engagements. The Platform is not a law firm, does not practice law, is not a party to the attorney-client relationship between any requesting attorney or firm and their client, and is not a party to the attorney-client relationship formed between a coverage attorney and that client.
Nothing on this site is legal advice, and using the Platform does not create an attorney-client relationship with CourtDateCoverage.
2. Who Can Use the Platform
The Platform is intended for licensed attorneys and the firms they work with. By creating an account, you represent that you are a licensed attorney in active good standing in at least one jurisdiction, or that you are creating a firm account on behalf of one or more such attorneys.
If you sign up as a coverage attorney or a requesting firm, your use of the paid matching and billing features is additionally governed by the Coverage Attorney Agreement or Requesting Firm Service Agreement you accept at sign-up — those agreements control over these general Terms wherever the two conflict on anything specific to that paid relationship (fees, payouts, confidentiality of case materials, cancellation).
3. Your Account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
You agree to provide accurate information at sign-up and to keep it current — particularly your bar admission status, since a lapse or change you don't report to us can't be reflected in verification shown to other users.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: misrepresent your identity, bar status, or authority to act on a client's behalf; upload case materials you don't have authority to share; attempt to access another user's account or data; interfere with the Platform's normal operation (including automated scraping or overloading the service); or use the Platform for any purpose other than legitimate court-coverage matching and billing.
5. Payments
Payments are processed through Stripe. Requesting firms are billed and coverage attorneys are paid according to the fee schedule and cadence described in the agreement you accepted at sign-up, not by these Terms. We don't store your full card number or bank account details — Stripe does, under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. Intellectual Property
The Platform's design, code, and content (excluding case materials and other content you or another user upload) belong to CourtDateCoverage or its licensors. You're granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Platform for its intended purpose — nothing here transfers ownership of the Platform itself to you.
7. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that any coverage request will be matched, that a match will be confirmed in time for a given hearing, or that the Platform will be free of errors or interruptions. We don't supervise, and aren't responsible for, the legal judgment or professional conduct of any attorney using the Platform.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CourtDateCoverage's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform is limited to the fees you paid to the Platform in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Platform at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for a violation of these Terms, a violation of the Coverage Attorney Agreement or Requesting Firm Service Agreement, or a change in bar or insurance status that makes continued participation inappropriate.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
