Privacy Policy

1. What This Covers

This Privacy Policy describes how CourtDateCoverage collects, uses, and shares information when you use the site or create an account. It applies alongside — not instead of — the confidentiality terms in the Coverage Attorney Agreement and Requesting Firm Service Agreement, which specifically govern privileged case materials.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email, phone number, firm name, and password (stored as a hash, not in plain text, via our authentication provider).

Professional information: bar admission state and number, and your own attestation of professional liability insurance coverage.

Case information: for coverage requests, the court, jurisdiction, hearing details, and any case summary, desired outcome, or documents you choose to submit. This is treated as privileged/confidential and is only shown to the requesting attorney, the specific coverage attorney matched and confirmed for that matter, and platform admin — never to any other user.

Payment information: Stripe collects and stores your payment method details directly; we retain only the transaction records needed to bill firms and pay coverage attorneys (amounts, dates, status), not full card or bank account numbers.

Usage information: standard server logs (IP address, browser, timestamps) generated automatically by our hosting infrastructure. We don't currently run any third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the site.

3. How We Use Information

To operate the matching marketplace: verifying bar and insurance status, broadcasting coverage requests to eligible attorneys, and confirming matches.

To process payments between requesting firms and coverage attorneys.

To send account-related and transactional communications: confirmation, match, and billing emails, and hearing reminders for confirmed matches.

To maintain the security and integrity of the Platform, including detecting misuse.

4. How We Share Information

With other users, narrowly: a coverage attorney sees a requesting firm's case materials only once matched and confirmed for that specific matter; a requesting firm sees the name and bar status of the attorney matched to their case. We don't publish user information publicly.

With service providers who process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Vercel (application hosting), and our email delivery provider (transactional email only).

When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of CourtDateCoverage or our users.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data Security

Case materials and account data are stored in a Postgres database with row-level security policies that restrict each query to only the rows a given user is actually authorized to see — enforced at the database layer, not just in the application. All traffic to the site is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but access control is a first-class part of how the Platform is built, not an afterthought.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and case information for as long as your account is active, and afterward as needed for legitimate business purposes (billing records, dispute resolution, and legal or tax obligations). You can request deletion of your account as described below.

7. Your Choices

You can review and update your account information by logging in. To request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account, email support@courtdatecoverage.com. We'll respond and, where we're able to, act on the request — some information (such as billing records tied to completed engagements) may need to be retained even after an account is closed.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for licensed attorneys and firms, not for use by children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
